Today, Lani and myself, continued working on our assignment, like we did last lesson :)
We both talked to the other about what we have done and we both agree that we'll get our assignment done in good time :P

Today's lesson, Lani and I started our assignment. We have decided to do one page per topic, which means that there will be 9 pages - including on title page. Lani is working on Hand held multimedia devices ( e.g. umpc, iPod, itouch, iriver, touch screen phones)and I have been working on Computer Displays - LCD, CRT and plasma screens, pros and cons of each. Full high definition, high definition?.

Researching Online Multimedia Tools
First Multimedia Tool - Scrapbook :)
Versatility – what media does it allow me to use (text, images, video)?
This program allows me to use text, images and video. You can use your own images or images from the interent for a creative effect. But with Video, you can only use videos that has been uploaded to Youtube or photobucket. You can't unload to video straight from a camera.
Ease of use – how friendly is the user interface for the designers (you)? How easy is it to add components to my presentation? How friendly is the user interface for the user, can visitors find what they need on your presentation?
Scrapblog is really easy to use. They have good, creative designs or you can create one yourself. It's easy to add components to the presentation, via the bar on the left side on the page. Yes, vistors can find what they need to find on my presentation.
Collaboration – how well does the online tool allow me to work with my partner? Can we both work on the presentation at the same time?
It allows me to work well with my partner. We can both work on it at the same time. But we would prefer to work on it at the same time, incase we change something the other person has done and cant get it back.
Second Multimedia Tool - Notaland :)
Versatility – what media does it allow me to use (text, images, video)?
Notaland allows us to use text, images, video and music files. Unlike Scrapbook, it allows us to add images, video and music files straight from a file or camera, instead of having to go through youtube or photobucket. Although, we can do that if we want to when using notaland.

It's really easy to use. We have to design the page ourselves, there isnt any templates to use. It's really easy to add components. All around the page (to edit page) there are tools to help edit and help you with your presentation.
Collaboration – how well does the online tool allow me to work with my partner? Can we both work on the presentation at the same time?
Yes, we can both work on it at the same time. We prefer to work on this seperatively, because we can both work on different pages and wont acidentally delete each others work, like we would using scrapbook.

multimedia presentation Tools
Today's lesson, I looked at two sites that Lani and I could do our presentations on. These two websites are Scrapbook and Nota. I think that Nota is better because it's simple to use. I've been experimenting, :)
its interesting,
Scrapbook is a good site as well, but I prefer to use nota :)
For Lani and my assignment, we are going to use NOTA :)
i checked with her already :)
but she is away this lesson ! :(

Researching Multimedia Presentation Tools
For this assignment, Lani and I are partners. We have to do 8 topics, which are listed below:
1. Computer Displays - LCD, CRT and plasma screens, pros and cons of each. Full high definition, high definition? (Blue)
2. Digital Televisions – Plasma, LCD, LED, OLED (Blue)
3. Hand held multimedia devices ( e.g. umpc, iPod, itouch, iriver, touch screen phones)
4. Piracy and Copyright (Purple)
5. Social Networking (Purple)
6. Secondary Storage: including (Yellow)
Hard Disk Drive
Blu-ray Disks
DVD (standards – single layer, dual layer,) & CD
USB memory storage
7. Sound Cards (Yellow)
8. Wifi (Green)
Lani is doing:
Numbers 3, 4, 7 and 8
Laura's Doing:
Numbers 1, 2, 5 and 6
to set out what we are doing with the topics above, we have to set it out a certain way (shown below):
What to Say
Some information to include in your project about each topic could include
1. What it is ? What do we use it for?
2. How is it a part of our multimedia world?
3. Are there different types? What are the advantages/disadvantages of each type?
4. A “simple” explanation of how it works.
5. A rough indication of the cost of the device (only where a device is being researched)
6. Future directions, what is waiting around the corner, what is the next “new” technology in this area?
We also have to answer certain questions which will be posted on another blog.

THE WORLD OF MULTIMEDIA
1. Where do you commonly use multimedia in your daily life, list as many examples as you can
I commonly use multimedia at school and at home. At school I use to internet mainly, but we are allowed to listen to our iPod's in IST and occasionly some other classes. At home I use the internet, iPod and phone. I use all these multimedia devices all the time at home, they are a way to entertain ourselves when we are bored.
2. What multimedia device or service would find it hardest to be without?
The device I would hardest to lvie without would be a phone (in general). Without a phone, it can effect our safety. This is because one of the reasons why I have a phone is because if I ever get into trouble or I'm lost and I don't know what to do, I can call my parents and they'll come and get me. And the same goes with a home phone. If I feel unsafe or some creepy person keeps coming around and asking to come in, I can call my parents to come home and then call the police. Without phones, we wouldn't be able to get out of trouble and our safety will be in danger.
3. Do you think the video on future directions (second video) will come true. Do you see advantages/disadvantages to the use of technology?
Yes I think the the video shows future directions which will come true. I have no doubt that they are already inventing things that will be similar to what was shown in the video. And advantage would be that it would help us to get more organized and a disadvantage would be that it might be to confusing to use and a lot of older people wouldnt be able to use it.
